Description
Instruction is focused on the intricacies of attentive movement – with a goal of unity with the other dancers in duet, trio, small ensemble and mid-large chorus. A primary goal is to develop the dancers' ability to respond, think and feel like a single entity. Using techniques of subtle physical and energetic cues that focus on one another to transition from movement to movement, dancers will learn to work within a common step repertoire to create seamless and improvisational moments of dance.
Drills in this class are focused on mastering hands, arms, layered isolations and combination steps. The performance elements of the class include, entrances, exits and closings for improvised pieces; props, staging, costuming, and soloing. Exploration styles that have influence contemporary tribal and fusion belly dance such as traditional Indian, Algerian and Spanish classical and folkloric dance are also explored.
